Sawyer Jaxson Scoma, son of Jim Scoma and Shannon Hildom was diagnosed with Scimitar Syndrome, which is a rare heart defect that affects the movement of oxygen between the heart, lungs and the rest of the body. Along with Scimitar, 5 month old Sawyer suffers from pulmonary sequestration and severe pulmonary hypertension. Sawyer has spent many weeks at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with a team of specialists by his side. He has had to undergo many Cath Lab procedures, is on oxygen 24/7, and had a G-Tube placed for feedings. Open heart surgery will be scheduled in the near future as well.
